Joyful Connections: Habema’s Social Communication Brings Smiles to Puyagiya Residents

INTAN JAYA - The Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, a distinguished unit under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, continues its mission to safeguard the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border while fostering strong relationships with local communities in Papua Tengah Province. On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Soldiers stationed at Holomama Post, led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, engaged in a heartwarming Social Communication (Komsos) activity with children from Puyagiya Village in Sugapa District.

During their duties, the Soldiers made time to connect with the children of Puyagiya Village, promoting unity and understanding. The interaction involved conversations about local security and challenges faced by the community. To further nurture this bond, the Soldiers distributed free shoes and clothing to the children, who responded with uncontainable excitement and gratitude.

One of the children, Anton Mujizau, expressed heartfelt thanks, saying, “Praise God, thank you for the free shoes and clothes, Commander 509. God bless.”

Commander of the Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, highlighted the importance of community-focused initiatives in the TNI's mission. “Fostering inclusive relationships with local communities is crucial for supporting regional development and ensuring peace in Papua, ” he stated.
